FUNDAMENTALS FOR SELF DEFENSE
Led by Lily, owner of @garden_of_serpents safety consultancy and a 9-year Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt.
She now brings her highly specialized, trauma-informed personal safety framework right here to Brookfield!
This specialized, 90-minute, female-led workshop is designed to teach practical defense through the lens of choice and empowerment. Participants will develop the physical and mental architecture needed to override the panic response, practice verbal de-escalation skills, and understand distance management while establishing an unshakeable structural base and posture. We will also safely cover how to break grips and escape holds using effortless skeletal leverage and practical strikes to create an immediate path to safety.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
The F.R.E.E. Framework: A blueprint for Nervous system regulation to override the "freeze response" when under pressure.
Vigilance: Understanding situational awareness, environmental scanning, and sharpening your intuition to maintain a mindset that is present vs paranoid.
Preparation: Solo and partner movement drills focusing on distance management, proper structural base, and coordinate exit-searching.
Resilience: Consent based contact to learn leverage- based grip breaking for wrist releases, and escaping sudden physical holds over the torso.
Practical Impact: Offensive counters with open-palm and elbow strikes designed to increase distance when de-escalation is no longer an option.
Invaluable and available to everyone, especially for those who are leaving for college!
